Thermage is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment clinically proven to tighten, firm, tone, contour and rejuvenate facial skin to naturally restore its youthful appearance. The Thermage procedure uses the ThermaCool system, an FDA-approved non-invasive treatment for wrinkles and folds, which uses a unique form of monopolar radiofrequency (CRF) technology to tighten existing collagen and stimulate new natural collagen production. The immediate results of Thermage may be seen immediately, but as your skin creates new collagen, Thermage results continue to improve for the next six months. The Thermage procedure is quick and simple. Unlike some treatments, the thermage procedure can be used on all people with no recovery time.
How does Thermage work?
Thermage works by heating the deep collagen fibers in the skin and the tissue beneath it. This deeply uniform heating action stimulates the skin to create new collagen and reshape existing collagen. Thermage can cause tightening of the deep structures of the skin and tissues. Over time, new and rearranged collagen is produced, which additionally tightens the skin and restores facial contours.
Can Thermage be used on the eyes?
The skin of the eyelids is quite thin and tends to respond well to the radiofrequency energy of Thermage by becoming tighter and smoother.
How long does the Thermage procedure take?
Thermage procedure is a completely non-invasive and safe treatment. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure can take as little as 20 minutes or up to two hours for body treatments.
How many Thermage treatments will I need?
Unlike many tightening procedures that require four or more sessions, 1-2 Thermage treatments 3 or 4 weeks apart provide results for most patients. The doctor will determine the course of treatment that works for each patient, based on the patient's needs and goals.
When will I see results from Thermage?
Immediate results may be visible after a Thermagea treatment but will usually improve over time. Measurable improvements in tightening and shaping appear gradually over a period of two to six months after a single Thermage treatment.
Where on the face can Thermage treatment be applied?
- Forehead
- Eyes
- Cheeks and jaws
- Cheeks, jaw and neck
- Full face
- Full face and neck
- Whole face: includes the periorbital region and the middle/lower surface of the face
How does the Thermage procedure feel?
With each touch of the Thermage device, the patient experiences a brief warming sensation of deep heat as CRF energy is delivered to the skin and underlying tissue. This deep warming sensation is an indication that the collagen is reaching effective temperatures for firming. In order to protect the skin and make the treatment more comfortable, the surface of the skin is cooled before, during and after each application of CRF energy. Patient feedback on the degree of thermal sensation during the Thermage procedure will help the physician balance the comfort of the procedure with maximum results. The penetration depth of RF waves into the skin is 3 mm.
How long will the effects of Thermage last?
In some cases, the Thermage procedure can immediately tighten the skin and existing collagen, but it continues to stimulate new natural collagen production for up to six months after the treatment. Thermage results can last for years, depending on your skin's condition and aging process.
Is the Thermage procedure safe?
The Thermage procedure has excellent safety. With more than 2,000,000 patients worldwide treated with thermage treatment, the incidence of side effects has been reported to be less than 0.4%. Short-term redness of the treated area was the most common.
